Gerry Cheevers In Person
Feb Fest is on in Kingston, Ontario. They typically get a former NHLer to come and do an autograph signing to generate some extra traffic. This year, it was Gerry Cheevers. He won't answer TTM unless you include money, so this was a good one to get to add to my 01-02 Fleer Greats of the Game set that I have been trying to finish.

I mailed Ryan Kesler back in 2009 and got the return back in 260 days. I typically don't mail a player more than once, but in this case, I pulled a jersey card of his in a box of Donruss cards. So, I thought it would be a neat card to get signed. He didn't mail me the right card. I have no idea why, but now I am out the jersey cards too.

Jerome Samson TTM Success

Jerome is having a great season with the Ice Caps so far. He has 26 points in 35 games. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets call him up at some point. He went undrafted after his junior hockey was finished, but managed to get on with the Albany River Rats of the AHL. He has also played 46 games with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Adam is in his first full season as a pro with the Jets' farm affiliate. He has 13 points so far this season. He played his junior hockey with the Swift Current Broncos and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2011 draft.

Raphael Diaz TTM Success

Raphael was just named to the Swiss national team for the 2014 Olympics. He is a good defenceman with above average offensive skills on a team that is very loaded with defence right now. He has been a healthy scratch a few times lately due to Doug Murray and Alexei Emelin coming back from injury. I could see the Habs moving one or two of their surplus d-men by the time the deadline comes around. They need some scoring and size up front.

Slater is a 1st round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has 25 points in 32 games so far this year for the Spitfires in the OHL. Those are some great numbers for a defenceman on a sub par team in the OHL. He should have a spot in Tampa in the next couple of seasons.

Kris Russell TTM Success

Kris is enjoying a career year this season with the Flames. He has 13 points in 26 games so far. He has always been a defence first player, and even on bad Blue Jackets' teams, he had a plus rating. He has also represented Canada at 2 World Championships, getting 7 points in 11 games. If Team Canada were looking for someone with great defensive sense, they would probably have a harder look at him for the Olympic team. However, we seem to be pretty deep on D-men this year, so I doubt that he will get a look.
